A warm and royal welcome for Flexeserve at Buckingham Palace

The world expert in hot-holding has been recognised at a Buckingham Palace reception after receiving the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2022.

Flexeserve, a brand of The Alan Nuttall Partnership, was awarded the honour in April 2022 for its revolutionary Flexeserve Zone heated display, the only unit capable of hot-holding food-to-go products with different temperature requirements at the same time. The occasion has now been marked at a reception hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Princess Royal on 12th July at Buckingham Palace.

CEO Jamie Joyce attended the event on behalf of Flexeserve, saying: “It was incredible to receive royal recognition and be invited to attend this event. The Queen’s Award for Innovation reflects the dedication and character of our Partners, and it was an honour to represent them at this celebration.”

A royal reception

Held in Buckingham Palace’s famous Picture Gallery, the reception was attended by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Princess Royal on behalf of HM The Queen. Also in attendance were the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra, The Hon. Lady Ogilvy.

The royal hosts were impressed by their guests’ commitment to technical innovation and sustainability, something which Jamie had the opportunity to discuss with them. Reflecting the royal enthusiasm for environmental stewardship and excellence in innovation, HRH The Princess Royal showed an interest in Flexeserve Zone and its hot-holding credentials.

Guests were able to visit some of the most ornate rooms in the Palace, including the Throne Room, Music Room and recently-refurbished Yellow Drawing room. The 250 attendees featured award winners across the four enterprise categories: innovation, international trade, sustainable development, and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

Recognising innovation

Jamie Joyce said: “We are extremely proud to receive this recognition of our flagship product, whilst celebrating British innovation and meeting likeminded people within businesses sharing similar values. Our world-leading heated display, Flexeserve Zone targets a real need in the market to serve great hot food – by maintaining outstanding food quality with unrivalled hold times that reduce food waste and achieve excellent energy efficiency.

“Our customers’ achievements have tested our technology and shown the real value of this innovation. As an employee-owned company, our community is what has ultimately led to us receiving this award.”

Following the reception, Flexeserve will be presented with their award at their headquarters in Hinckley, Leicestershire, by the Lord-Lieutenant Michael Kapur OBE, the Queen’s representative in the county.

Of the evening, Jamie said: “It was an incredible moment for our industry. All the Queen’s Award recipients are at the forefront of developing new technology. Flexeserve will continue to lead the way for the future of hot-holding.”
